You Are Who You Surround Yourself With - Texas Conference for Women

We are the average of the five people we surround ourselves with.... Not to get you to start doubting your friendships, but wow.  That will hit you straight in the nose sometimes.  I've had times in my life where I had to stop, take a look around and realize that one of the many reasons things aren't happening the way I would like is because I'm not surrounding myself with those I look up to.  When you have a support system, mentors, people who are leading their lives the way you expect yourself to, your world will start changing.

But the hardest part about this is guarding yourself and your time.  Be generous with your time to those who deserve it and be cautious before giving your time to those who don't appreciate it or tend to take advantage of it.  

Be selective about your network. It has been shown that the people we surround ourselves with influence us in subtle yet profound ways.  If you associate with people who are successful you will "absorb" their way of thinking and decision making.  You need to be highly selective about the peers you associate with. 

There are many ways to connect with people. Connecting with people is a great way to build strong relationships, but social media has also made it even easier to connect with these individuals online.  Take the time today to think about who you want in your life and how you can surround yourself with them.  Shape your network in a way that will not only propel you forward, but everyone else who surrounds you. 

I'm very excited to be a part of the Social Media Street Team for the Texas Conference for Women as this is an excellent opportunity to be surrounded by amazing women who are leaders in their industry.  I'm prepared to be inspired and motivated with some of the outstanding speakers like Soledad O'Brian, Debbie Sterling, and Tamara Mellon.  Having the chance to capture some of these ladies for interviews will be even more exciting.  

I invite you to join me on November 13th at the Austin Convention Center.  Get immersed with the other 5,000 attendees and plan on walking away feeling rejuvenated with a new direction and new ideas to take with you into the new year.
